Waqrapukara, whose name means "horn-shaped fortress," is an Inca archaeological site located in the Cusco region of Peru, near the Apurímac River, at an altitude of 4300 meters above sea level. It was initially built by the Canchis and later conquered by the Incas. In 2017, the Ministry of Culture declared it Cultural Heritage of the Nation, recognizing it as an Inca sanctuary. The site consists of terraces, plazas, and rock formations. The tour to Waqrapukara begins with the pick-up of tourists from their hotels very early in the morning, followed by a 3-hour journey in tourist transport, and a 1 hour and 30 minute hike, covering approximately 2.5 kilometers. The tour includes a visit to the archaeological zone, photo opportunities, and the return along the same route.
