Sacsayhuamán, an Inca fortress located near Cusco, was built by Pachacútec and completed by Huayna Cápac between the 15th and 16th centuries. Every June 24th, during the winter solstice, it serves as the setting for Inti Raymi, a recreation of the Inca ritual of worship to the god Inti.
"Qenqo, located at 3,580 meters above sea level and just 4 kilometers from Cusco, is an important Inca archaeological site. It is believed to have been a center for the worship of gods such as the sun, moon, and earth. Its name, which means "labyrinth" in Quechua, is due to its underground galleries and zigzagging stone channels
Puca Pucara, an Inca fortress near Cusco, was part of the defensive system of the Inca Empire. Its name, which means "Red Fortress" in Quechua, is due to the color of its rocks at sunset. In addition to its military function, it also served as an administrative center, with platforms, terraces, staircases, and passageways.
Tambomachay, an Inca archaeological site located 7 kilometers from Cusco and at 3700 meters above sea level, was a place dedicated to the worship of water and the Inca's rest. It features aqueducts, canals, and waterfalls that demonstrate Inca hydraulic engineering. Furthermore, it included a royal garden irrigated by a system of canals and functioned as a control point for those entering from Antisuyo, thanks to a watchtower.
